June 7, 2010 -- President James Michel has met with senior executives of Tata Consultancy Services, a leading information technology firm, which is of the top ten global service providers, and forms part of the Tata Group which is India's largest conglomerate.
President Michel, on official visit to India last week, invited TCS to consider investing in the Seychelles fibre optic submarine cable option to the West. He also invited them to participate in Seychelles bid to link up with the world via the East. It is believed that an alternate cable link to the East would ensure Seychelles is permanently connected to the rest of the world at all times.
Tata Consulting Services has expertise in building and developing fibre optic submarine cables, and expressed interest in becoming involved in the Seychelles project.
The President viewed presentations of the latest state-of-the art IT technology including the building of 4G network for mobile telecoms, as well as the latest software and networking facilities developed by the company.
President Michel also discussed the possibilities of the TCS establishing a regional centre in Seychelles, which the TCS has said it will consider in the future.
