July 21, 2010 -- Retiring customs security officer Antoine Armand, was as State House yesterday to be thanked for his exemplary service.

The Vice-President, Mr Danny Faure, congratulated him on behalf of President James Michel and the government.

Mr Armand spent 27 years in the job. He worked at State House before being transferred to the Customs Division at the New Port. He said he was "really happy, proud and very encouraged to be honoured like this".

"It is, however, a nice surprise," he added.

Mr Armand, who is celebrating his 64th birthday this week,  said he lasted so long in his job because of his love for it and his dedication to the work.

Mr Faure said every job has its value and merits, and Mr Armand is a role model for the youth, especially with his exemplary behaviour, attendance and punctuality.

"We really appreciate the service you have given your country and to improve your organization, and we thank you profoundly for it," said VP Faure.
