Indian Independence Day message

August 17, 2010 -- President James Michel sent a message of congratulations to H. E. Mrs. Pratibha Devisingh Patil, the Head of State of India, on the occasion of her country's Independence Day on August 15th.
President Michel's message reads: "As your diverse and beautiful land celebrates the 64th anniversary of its independence, the people and Government of Seychelles join me in extending to you, the Government and people of India, our most sincere and warmest congratulations, on this auspicious occasion.
"India has since the attainment of its independence strived for the betterment of its people and at the same time allowing many developing countries to gain from its acquired expertise and rich experience. India' endeavours in achieving a positive and constructive relationship with the rest of the world is also most remarkable.
"The long and traditional relationship between Seychelles and India continues to flourish. The recent exchanges of high level visits have immensely contributed towards the furtherance of the special rapport existing between our two brotherly countries. I am confident that our strong partnership and commitment in our particular interest in securing maritime safety in our zone, will come to fruition. We share an ocean and our two countries' security is inextricably linked. We will continue to work together to ensure the safety and prosperity of our two peoples," concluded the message.
