First-ever early childhood conference inaugurated by VP Faure

September 28, 2010 -- The inaugural World Conference on Early Childhood Care and Education was officially opened by Vice-President Danny Faure in Moscow, Russia, yesterday.

VP Faure was invited to share Seychelles' experience in setting up one of the most advanced childhood education and care programme among developing nations. The aim of the conference is to explore ways of increasing access to early childhood care and education and to reaffirm their commitment towards the first goal of Education for All, especially for the most vulnerable and disadvantaged children.

VP Faure is a former Minister for Education. He is presently the Minister for Finance. At the Moscow conference, whose theme is Building the Wealth of Nations, he is also leading two sessions.
Firstly, he is chairing the International Donors Round Table. Secondly, he is convening one of the commission sessions that is discussing innovative financing strategies for early childhood care and education.
