Namibia's New High Commissioner To Seychelles

March 2, 2011 -- Namibia's second high commissioner to Seychelles is Mr Marten Kapewasha who presented his credentials to President James A Michel at State House yesterday. 

The high commissioner told the media after the ceremony that his country hoped to trade more with Seychelles and strengthen cooperation between the two countries, especially in the areas of fisheries and training. 

"Seychelles has a wider experience in fisheries, and we hope you will be able to help Namibia in our marine resources training," he said.

Namibia presently holds the chairmanship of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) and hopes ot use that position to help in the fight against piracy.

President Michel and high commissioner Kapewasha also looked at the "worrying situation in northern Africa" and hoped the African Union will be able to help find a solution to the crises.
