Seychelles Invited To UAE Forums

Wed, 09 March 2011

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has invited Seychelles to take part in its anti-maritime piracy and renewable energy forums next month.
This was said by UAE ambassador Mullalla Mubarak Suwaid Al Ameri on Monday, after meeting Vice-President Danny Faure at State House.

He said his visit to Seychelles was to invite Foreign Affairs Minister Jean-Paul Adam - whom he met earlier on Monday - to both forums.

The anti-maritime piracy forum will take place on April 17 in Dubai, while the renewable energy conference will be held in Abu Dhabi during the same month.

He added that both Seychelles and the UAE are in the fight against piracy in the region.

"There is an excellent partnership between the two countries in this area," added Mr Al Ameri.

And work on the new coast guard naval base in Seychelles is going ahead as planned.

Mr Al Ameri said that during his talks with Mr Faure they discussed how to further boost this close relationship.

"We also spoke about the possibility of Etihad Airways starting to fly to Seychelles in the future," he said.

National Assembly speaker Dr Patrick Herminie has been invited to visit his counterpart in the UAE soon, Mr Al Ameri added.
