President Says He Always Finishes What He Starts
Tue, 19 April 2011
April 19, 2011 -- The President has said that when he starts a job he never leaves it half-way.
President James Michel was discounting suggestions that he would serve only part of his term and hand over the presidency should he win the election next month.
"When I start something I always have this will and courage to finish," he said.
"It is an important element of my character," he noted.
"Today I am saying that once I get a new mandate I will likewise deliver on my promises and at the end of my mandate the people of Seychelles will be able to judge me again," he added.
Mr Michel said after his Parti Lepep supporters approved his nomination as their candidate in the forthcoming election that the chance to lead the country for the next five years will give him and his running mate, present Vice-President Danny Faure, the opportunity to carry on the hard work ensuring Seychelles continues to develop with a solid economy led by the private sector as the engine of growth.
This will continue to give all Seychellois a part in the development with a chance to create wealth for themselves and the country, taking it further ahead, he said.
Mr Michel pointed out that it is important to ensure that we do not "rock the boat" as we are on the right path and we should continue to move along it, improving the good things we have created and adjusting where we need to, along the road to greater prosperity.
He repeated that to realize the new Seychelles we must have stability, peace, understanding and work together in harmony, taking our responsibility and doing our best to take Seychelles forward.
