Commonwealth Election Observers Meet President

May 18, 2011 -- Election observers from the Commonwealth who are in Seychelles for this week's polling met President James Michel at State House yesterday.

The delegation is headed by Dr Julian Hunte, a former Foreign Minister of St Lucia and a former president of the United Nations general assembly.

"Our mandate here is to observe the election preparation which includes the polling, counting and results processes," said Dr Hunte.

The observers are expected to meet all the four candidates in the presidential election of May 19-21.
