President Congratulates CAF Vice-President Patel

May 19 2011 -- President James Michel this morning met with Mr Suketu Patel to congratulate him on the achievement of his nomination as the 1st Vice-President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) by the CAF executive committee this week.

"It is with immense pleasure and with great pride that I offer you my warmest congratulations and that of the people of Seychelles on your nomination..... It brings our nation immense satisfaction and pride whenever one of our sons and daughters earns recognition beyond our shores for their work," said President Michel.

The President said that Mr Patel's unanimous nomination to the high office is a well-deserved recognition for his unique contribution to the promotion and development of the beautiful game not only in Seychelles but on the international scene.

"It is another international victory for the hardworking men and women of our nation. It is a singular honour which we all share whole-heartedly. Your nomination as First Vice-President of CAF is also testimony to your integrity, to your commitment towards football, both as a player in your younger days and as chairman of the Seychelles Football Federation, and professionalism. I wish you continued success in your mission, and wish to assure you of our full support in the tasks which lie ahead."

Mr. Patel is also President of the Council of Southern Africa Football Associations (COSAFA) as well as the Chairman of the Seychelles Football Federation.
