Ruling Parti Lepep Choosing New Central Committee

The ruling Parti Lepep started meeting in congress yesterday to choose the new central committee.
Head of State, Mr James A Michel, has been nominated for re-election to the post of party president. The elections take place today, on the second and closing day of the congress.
In the opening speech yesterday, Mr Michel said: "It is an honour for me to accept the nomination by you. But I also accept it with humility. I have given you my commitment that for as long as you need me, I will continue to provide the leadership that our country and party ask for"
He added that he would continue to dedicate all his energy and efforttor Seychelles.
The President noted that many young people have been proposed for election to the central committee.
"This is a clear indication of the wish of our party to rejuvenate," said the President.
He pointed out that the young people have been well trained, well inculcated with the values and tradition of the party.
"They are the future of Parti lepep," he told the delegates at the congress.
He also pointed out that the party was after a good mix of youth and experience. He called on the aspiring young leaders to remain humble, connected to the people and to put the interests of the people above personal gains.
