New Central Bank Board Member

January 30 2012 -- The President has appointed Mr. Bertrand Rassool as a Board Member of the Central Bank of Seychelles with effect of January 1, 2012.
This follows recent amendments to the Central Bank of Seychelles Act, on December 27 2011, where the number of Board members to the CBS Board increased from 6 to 8 members. Earlier this month President Michel appointed Mr. Christophe Edmond as Second Deputy Governor, who became the seventh board member. Mr. Rassool will become the eighth board member.
Mr. Rassool is a graduate London School of Economics and Political Science and has extensive private and public sector experience. Â
Public sector positions include Director of Research at the CBS (1980-1987), Principal Secretary of Ministry of Planning and Foreign Affairs(1988-1994) Principal Secretary of the Ministry of Industry (1994-1998), Principal Secretary of the Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation (1998-1999)as well as High Commissioner of Seychelles to the United Kingdom (1999-2004).
His private sector experience includes key positions in both Seychelles and Mauritius, including in the financial sector. Â
