The new ambassador of Italy to Seychelles, Mr. Mauro Massoni, presented his credentials to President James Michel at State House this morning.

Following the ceremony Ambassador Massoni told the national media that he discussed a number of issues with President Michel, laying emphasis on the participation of Seychelles in the 2015 Milan Exposition under the theme ‘“Feeding the Planet, Energy For Life”, as well as the Blue Economy concept.

Ambassador Massoni stressed Italy’s to further collaborate with Seychelles in the promotion of this concept as well as reinforcing the excellent ties of cooperation that exist between the two countries in other fields.

“The relationship between Italy and the Republic of Seychelles are traditionally very good. We have collaborated in several sectors, such in the fight against piracy as well as in several United Nations programmes. Italy would like to collaborate with Seychelles in the development of the Blue Economy concept, knowing how deeply involved Seychelles is in this sector,” he said.

Also present during the meeting were the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Jean-Paul Adam and the President's Diplomatic Adviser, Ambassador Callixte D'Offay.

Ambassador Mauro Massoni is based in Nairobi.
