President James Michel congratulates Germany on fourth FIFA World Cup title

In a letter addressed to Her Excellency Angela Merkel, Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany, President James Michel extended congratulations on behalf of the Government and people of the Republic Seychelles for the triumph of the German national football team in the FIFA World Cup Finals.

President Michel remarked that the German team displayed great industry, skills and determination throughout the tournament which securing a fourth FIFA World Cup title. He noted that these same qualities were a reflection of the German work ethic and showcased the dynamism of the country.

The President highlighted that the winning German team was young and a product of the country’s investment in the youth. He noted “Seychelles is of a similar view that the future of all countries lies with their youth, and it is out duty to equip them with the adequate tools and opportunities to realise their full aspirations.”

President Michel also noted that the World Cup presents an opportunity for all people to unite under the banner of sport and celebrate the joy that it brings. “I have no doubt that the our shared passion for football will contribute to the further strengthening of our excellent bilateral ties and ever-growing friendship” said the President.
