President Michel and Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly meet to discuss national issues

President James Michel met with the Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly, Mr. David Pierre, this morning at State House, in order to discuss issues of national importance, which forms part of series of regular meetings.

The President and Mr. Pierre discussed issues concerning education, the economy, the elderly and the tax system.

Mr. Pierre spoke about the need for revaluation of the Seychelles Rupee, as well as his call for reforms of the tax system in Seychelles, both for business tax and for personal income tax.

They discussed some administrative problems within the education system, as well as Mr. Pierre’s proposal for the future increase of the pension for the elderly.

They also spoke about the cost of living and continuous measures being undertaken by the Government to ensure economic stability.
