President Michel meets with the Leader of the Opposition

President James Michel met with the Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly, Mr. David Pierre, this morning at State House, in order to discuss issues of national importance.

The President and Mr. Pierre discussed a variety of topics, including the importance of the country’s existing political stability for the economy and tourism in particular, especially ahead of the elections scheduled for next year.

They agreed that as the economy grows, the Seychellois people should benefit from higher salaries and pensions.

Mr. Pierre spoke about the need to improve some conditions of employment in the Police force as well as looking at ways to improve pensions for the elderly next year.

The President said he was satisfied with the meeting and that such dialogue contributes to the progress of the country, as he welcomes an exchange of views from all sectors of society.
