New Australian Prime Minister congratulated on appointment by President Michel

In a congratulatory note, on behalf of the Government and people of the Republic of Seychelles, President James Michel warmly congratulated Mr Malcolm Turnbull following his appointment as the new Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of Australia.

President Michel’s message reaffirmed the excellent relations shared between Seychelles and Australia across numerous fields, which he was certain, would grow under Prime Minister Turnbull’s leadership. The President also expressed his appreciation for the staunch support that Australia has given to Small Island Developing States.

“Kindly count on my unwavering commitment in working towards consolidating the excellent ties that exist between our two countries in the spirit of solidarity and unity that has always united our two nations,” said President Michel.

In a separate message President Michel has also thanked outgoing Prime Minister Tony Abbott for the support he advocated for both Seychelles and small island states and acknowledged the work he and his administration accomplished to elevate and reinvigorate the close relationship between the two countries. President Michel wished Mr Abbott good health and success in all of his future endeavours.
