Appointment of Member of the National Human Rights Commission

The Office of the President has announced the appointment of Ms Samantha Aglaë as a Member of the National Human Rights Commission.
Ms Aglaë, who was nominated by the Speaker of the National Assembly in accordance with the The Protection of Human Rights Act, will fill the vacancy created by the departure of Ms Farzana Jumaye.
Ms Aglaë holds a degree in law from the University of Mauritius. She worked as a Senior Prosecutor and Senior Legal Draftsperson in the Office of the Attorney General from 2008 to 2012, and is currently practising a private Attorney at Law and Notary Public.
The other two Members of the NHRC are the Chairperson, Ms Dora Zatte, and Retired Judge Ranjan Perera.
