At its meeting this morning, the Cabinet discussed progress in the implementation of the First 100 Days Action Pledge by the President.
Cabinet also discussed other issues, such as financial constraints related to outstanding rehabilitation work following natural disasters over the last two years, as well as urgent cases arising from recent bad weather.
Cabinet also discussed the findings of the recently published data from the National Bureau of Statistics concerning household income levels in Seychelles in relation to the cost of living. Cabinet agreed that there is a need for adjustments to certain priorities in planned expenditure for 2016.
Cabinet decided that there would be a reduction in capital expenditure, with the resulting savings being diverted to meet the pressing needs of the communities.
The President said that his Government's first priority is the welfare of the people of Seychelles. As a sign of solidarity with those most in need, the President, the Vice-President and all the Ministers agreed to forego their personal end-of-term gratuity payments due to them upon the end of their term in office on 19th December 2015.
