President Michel to attend opening ceremony of World Future Energy Summit

President James Michel left the country over the weekend, for a working visit to Abu Dhabi.

The President will attend the opening ceremony of the World Future Energy Summit on 18th January, which opens the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, an initiative of the Abu Dhabi Government aimed at facilitating conversation and heightening awareness of some of the globe’s most difficult environmental and economic challenges.

Mr. Michel will also attend the Zayed Future Energy Prize awards ceremony which aims to inspire the next generation of global energy innovators to create innovations for the future.

On 19th January, President Michel will deliver the keynote address at the Second Blue Economy Summit, will be held under the theme ‘’One Ocean, One Future,’’ as part of the 2016 Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week.

The Second Blue Economy Summit is organised by the governments of Seychelles and the United Arab Emirates, and this time in partnership with the Intergovernmental Oceanic Commission of UNESCO.

The Summit will be attended by President Ólafur Ragnar Grímsson of Iceland, President Tommy Remengesau of Palau, high-level country, international agency and civil society representatives.

President Michel will be accompanied on his working visit to Abu Dhabi by the Minister of Finance, Trade and the Blue Economy, Mr. Jean- Paul Adam; the Minister of Environment, Energy and Climate Change, Mr. Didier Dogley; and other high-level government officials.
