President Michel congratulates Gianni Infantino on his election as FIFA President

President James A. Michel has a sent congratulatory message to Mr. Gianni Infantino, President of the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), following his election.

"Your election is indicative of the confidence of the global football community in your leadership and qualities and an endorsement of your commitment to bring the world’s governing body to new heights and to drive the reforms that are necessary. We share your vision for a strong, democratic and proactive FIFA. We very much welcome the focus you place on the development of young sporting talents at national, regional and global levels. We know that you have the interests of African football at heart,” said President Michel.

The President, who is also the Patron of the Seychelles Football Federation (SFF), said that he has no doubt that Mr. Infantino’s knowledge, experience and talent will enable him to realise successfully the ambitious plan and vision he have outlined for FIFA.

“In Seychelles, we all share a great passion for football. It builds bridges, enjoyment and perspectives to many while at the same time imparts universal values like fair play and discipline to our youth. It is in this spirit that we have witnessed the growth of the sport in our country over the past years, through the Seychelles Football Federation (SFF) and the latter’s affiliation with the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and FIFA.”

Mr. Michel said that during Mr. Infantino’s tenure, Seychelles looks forward to the further development of cooperation between SFF and FIFA in a bid to equip Seychelles youth with the adequate sporting facilities and opportunities and to continue raising the profile of football in Seychelles. He also wished the new FIFA President success during his tenure and conveyed his best wishes in the tasks which lie ahead.
